The Premier League Charitable Fund is one of the biggest sport charities in the world.

Established in 2010 to create positive sporting, health, personal and education opportunities for children, young people and the wider community, the independent charity distributes Premier League and partner funding to professional club community organisations (CCOs) across the Premier League, English Football League and National League.

Pompey in the Community is supported by the Premier League Charitable Fund which enables us to support the wider community across Premier League Primary Stars, Premier League Inspires, Premier League Kicks and ‘Connect Pompey’ funded by the Premier League Fans Fund.

We’ll be spotlighting each project over the coming weeks and how we support 2000+ young people across Portsmouth and its surround areas..

Premier League Kicks uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential.

The programme creates opportunities for young people who are at risk of anti-social behaviour, youth violence and/or from high-need areas to regularly engage in football, sport, mentoring and personal development opportunities.

Launched in 2006 as a collaboration between the Premier League and the Metropolitan Police to create safer and more inclusive communities, Premier League Kicks has had a significant impact on people and places in the last 17 years.

Premier League Primary Stars is the Premier League’s primary school education programme. It uses the appeal of football to inspire children aged five to 11 to be active and develop essential skills.

More than 100 Club Community Organisations across England and Wales deliver Premier League Primary Stars, supporting pupils in the classroom, the playground and on the sports field.

Premier League Inspires

Premier League Inspires is a personal development programme, developed by the Premier League and professional football clubs, and supported by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).

It is predominantly delivered in secondary schools and pupil referral units.

Launched in 2019, the programme uses the power of football to inspire young people aged 11-18 at risk of not reaching their potential, to develop the personal skills and positive attitudes needed to succeed in life.

Premier League Inspires empowers participants to develop personal, social, employability and life-skills, through a series of regular face-to-face group sessions, mentoring, workshops and social-action projects, providing pupils with the help they need now and supporting them to plan for their future.

More than 29,000 young people have benefitted from their involvement in Premier League Inspires to date.

Premier League Inspires Challenge

Funding from the Premier League and Premier League Charitable Fund’s partners also supports youth social action through the annual Premier League Inspires Challenge.

The Challenge helps young people to learn about some of the challenges facing their football club and community, exploring ways to overcome these issues.

During Season 2023/24 clubs looked at mental health, as part of the Premier League’s Inside Matters campaign.
