Life ‘n’ Chimes is a social hub for those who have dementia, have family members coping with dementia, or are susceptible to social isolation. Our group is a shining beacon of support and friendships, dedicated to combating the social isolation that often accompanies the journey of ageing.

From museum visits to café outings and arts and crafts sessions to lively bingo games, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Our goal is to provide diverse experiences that cater to our members’ unique interests and abilities, ensuring that each gathering is filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories.

Pompey Get Active

Take control of your health and wellbeing!

Do you want to feel healthier and fitter? In our small group workshops, we discuss nutrition, eating habits and physical activity. You will have the opportunity to try different activities like, circuits, weights, mobility and various walks.

In conjunction with Portsmouth City Council, Pompey Get Active is a free 12 week course run by our Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator 𝗕𝗲𝗸𝗸𝗶, as one of a number of initiatives aimed at tackling the issue of lower physical activity participation rates.

We run Male only, Female only and mixed sessions across various locations around the city.

Walking Football – Men

Walking Football is the perfect game for people in later life – improving health, fitness, social and mental health well-being.

Established in 2014, Pompey in the Community’s Men’s Walking Football team allows people who have loved the sport all their lives to once again safely get back into playing. The social aspect of the group is vital to its members and has proved an invaluable support mechanism. The group ranges from 50-83 with enough numbers for 70s+ to play as a separate group.

Each session involves round-robin small-sided games (5,6,7 a side), 3 touch football, below crossbar height, and restricted penalty areas.

Portsmouth Ladies Walking Football began its journey in October 2018 with the generous support of lottery funding. Since then, it has flourished into a vibrant community, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for women of all abilities aged 30 and above.


  • The group has grown significantly, boasting enough players to form two teams
  • Three talented players have been honoured to represent the South East Region
  • Active participation in local festivals, friendlies, and the Hampshire League has showcased the team’s passion and dedication to the sport
