For the first time ever, Pompey in the Community is bringing together a Blue Wave of runners at the Great South Run 2026, a dedicated wave of supporters running together in blue to make a difference for local young people.
Whether you’re taking on your first challenge, chasing a personal best or simply want to be part of something meaningful, joining the Blue Wave means every step you take will help support children and young people across Portsmouth.
The Blue Wave is a chance for our community to come together, fill the streets with blue and show support for the next generation.
By running as part of the Blue Wave, you’ll be helping Pompey in the Community continue delivering programmes that provide young people with positive opportunities, trusted support and pathways to a brighter future.
Our campaign message is simple:

Through our programmes, we work with children and young people across Portsmouth, helping them build confidence, develop skills and access opportunities that can have a lasting impact.
Every runner joining the Blue Wave will be helping us create more opportunities, provide positive activities and support young people to make positive choices.
Every young person deserves the chance to thrive.
Across Portsmouth, some young people face challenges that can affect their future. Early support, positive activities and trusted role models can make a huge difference in helping young people build confidence and resilience.
In 2023/24:
- 1,829 offences involved young people aged 10–24 in Portsmouth.
- 608 incidents of youth anti-social behaviour were recorded.
- Violence, drug offences and theft remain among the most common offences involving young people.
Behind every statistic is a young person with potential, ambition and a future ahead of them.
That’s why there is no minimum fundraising target to join the Blue Wave.
We simply ask you to raise whatever you can. Whether that is £10, £50 or more, every donation helps us continue supporting young people in our city.
The most important thing is being part of the Blue Wave and helping us spread the message.
