We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual to take on an important match day role at Fratton Park!
Portsmouth Football Club is seeking a volunteer to bring Mary Rose, the Portsmouth Women mascot, to life at home fixtures. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of the match day experience, interact with supporters of all ages and help create a fun, welcoming atmosphere at Fratton Park.
What will you be doing?
  • Supporting Portsmouth Women home fixtures, typically on Sunday afternoons between 12pm and 2.15pm.
  • Bringing the Mary Rose character to life by entertaining and engaging with supporters.
  • Using strong non-verbal communication skills to interact with fans while in costume.
  • Wearing and performing in the mascot costume for extended periods, including in varying weather conditions.
  • Engaging positively with children, families and vulnerable adults.
  • Helping to manage, maintain and look after the mascot costume.
  • Adhering to the club’s safeguarding policies and procedures, including relevant DBS requirements.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of professionalism when representing Portsmouth Football Club.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, approachable and confident engaging with supporters of all ages.
The ideal volunteer will:
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt their approach to different audiences.
  • Be comfortable performing in front of crowds and interacting with supporters.
  • Be able to work in a busy match day environment while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
  • Be available on Sundays, typically between 12pm and 2.15pm, for Portsmouth Women home fixtures.
  • Have the physical fitness and stamina required to perform in a mascot costume for extended periods.
  • Ideally have previous experience in character performance, entertainment or a similar role, although this is not essential.
