In conjunction with The IBD Partnership, Pompey in the Community welcomes international work experience students a few times per year.

Read what Patricia had to say about her experience:

“My name is Patricia. I’m 19, from Liechtenstein, and recently came to Portsmouth with two friends for a one week language course and three weeks work experience organised by IBD. They took care of everything for us, from our language course to our host families and work placements, so we had nothing to worry about. I was placed with Pompey in the Community.

My first day at Pompey was on September 30th. Anne, from IBD, brought me to the office to ensure I settled in comfortably.

The first person I met was Clare, who warmly welcomed me. I joined the marketing team, working with Jodie, Verity, and Izzy, and helped with various projects, learning new skills in the process.

Throughout my work experience, I took on a variety of tasks. I went Pompey Pedals to take photos for Instagram, watched social media tutorials, attended two Zoom meetings, and used Canva to design flyers, Instagram posts, and logos. A highlight was helping with Life ‘n’ Chimes, where I enjoyed conversations with the seniors. I also helped prepare for events like the Great South Run, a ten-mile charity race that 70 people ran for Pompey in the Community this year.

A standout experience was attending a Pompey football game. Clare gave me tickets, and I joined my friends among the fans. The energy was amazing, and it was inspiring to see the fans’ passion.

In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Pompey in the Community and learned a lot about social media and marketing. The team was incredibly welcoming and dedicated to giving their best daily.

Beyond work, it was rewarding to experience a new culture and improve my English. I’m grateful for this opportunity and everything I’ve learned.”
