To round off a winning week, Portsmouth Amputee FC were award the Foundation Award at the Hampshire FA’s Grassroots Football Awards.
Over the last season, the team have won the FA Disability Cup, the IKO EAFA League Cup and the IKO EAFA Cup with the league title to be decided in the coming months.
The team train once a week at the Mountbatten Centre and travel across the country to the home of English Amputee Football in Crewe once a month for league games. Of the 10 players, 6 are England internationals and 3 are ex-England internationals or part of the England Talent Pathway.
The team have been led by Callum Fowler and Patrice Link since 2021 and everyone involved shows an incredible amount of determination to compete at such a high level balancing their every day lives with elite amputee football. When reaching the EAFF Champions League last November, they were surrounded by teams who were full time professionals and did Pompey in the Community proud by being named 4th in Europe.
We are incredibly proud of our amputee team and know they’re inspiring a whole new generation of footballers on their journey.
