Portsmouth FC Amputees have once again demonstrated their dominance in English amputee football by securing The IKO EAFA League Cup over the weekend. This victory opens the silverware cabinet for this season and adds yet another accolade to their impressive collection, cementing their consistent performance in the sport.
Held at Reaseheath College, the Cup included Chelsea, Everton, Everton Development Team, the IAFA League Select and Newcastle. Making their way through the group stage against Everton and Everton Development teams, Pompey beat IAFA League Select in the Semi-Final before securing victory against staunch rivals Everton.
The journey to the cup was marked by a series of formidable performances. Trailing by two goals in the final, Portsmouth staged a dramatic comeback, scoring a last-minute equaliser to force a penalty shootout—where they held their nerve to secure victory and bring the trophy back to the South Coast.
This triumph is particularly significant as it marks Portsmouth’s successful defense of the League Cup title not once or twice but four times. Their ability to maintain such high standards and achieve back-to-back victories highlights the team’s dedication, skill, and resilience.
