On Friday 7 March 2025, in celebration of International Women’s Day, Pompey in the Community and Portsmouth FC Women supported St John’s CofE Primary School to be part of the Biggest Football Session Ever. This incredible campaign supported by the Barclay’s Girls Football Partnership and England Football pushes for equal opportunities in football for girls.
During the event we celebrated the fierce talent, determination and passion of these young players, from beginners to those already involved in a team, showing the world that football is for girls too. Held nationwide, the campaign aims to:
- Inspire and empower: pupils to get active, enjoy the beautiful game, and break down barriers to participation
- Develop Young Leaders: allowing them to build essential leadership skills
A huge thank you to Megan Hornby and Hannah Coan from Portsmouth FC Women for joining us and setting an amazing example for young girls to look up to within football.
