With the cost of living making it harder to manage household bills, Pompey in the Community have teamed up with Smart Energy GG through the EFL and EFL Trust partnership to, once again, continue sharing the benefits of smart meters in your homes.
Smart Energy GB is the not-for-profit government-backed campaign helping everyone in Britain understand the importance of smart meters and their benefits to people and our environment. It is not an energy company, and works on behalf of all energy suppliers.
What are the benefits of smart meters?
1. Control
With a smart meter, you can see how much energy you’re using – and what it costs – on an in-home display. This could take some of the guesswork out of balancing your budget.
2. Accurate billing
Having a smart meter means you get a bill based on how much energy you used – not an estimate. Helping you save the pennies if they expect you to be using more.
3. Saving and budgeting benefits
When you’re on a tight budget it can be a struggle to make ends meet. Even when you’re doing everything you can to save money. A smart meter could make things easier.
This advantage comes from using the in-home display. It comes with the smart meter, and can help you keep a closer eye on how much energy you’re using, and how much it’s costing you. This can help you work out how to save energy and money around the home.
4. Renters can benefit from a smart meter too
If your gas and electricity bills are addressed to you and you pay them, you can ask your energy supplier for a smart meter. You don’t need your landlord’s permission, but you should let them know.
5. Automated meter readings
The smart meter automatically sends readings to your energy supplier. This isn’t just about remembering to do it; for customers with limited mobility, reading a meter can be difficult.
