Pompey in the Community and VBET launch Match Party
Virtual community project to bring fans together on a match day
Pompey in the Community has joined forces with VBET to provide support to over 60s by hosting a series of virtual catch-ups on match days.
As part of its drive to help reduce levels of loneliness amongst older people, the charity will host catch-ups via Zoom to connect those who are most at risk of isolation. Pompey in the Community’s team will deliver a match-day parcel to each member of the group. This will consist of half-time refreshments and a VBET branded scarf to bring a little of Fratton Park’s much-missed atmosphere into their homes.
The catch-ups are regularly joined by ex-players or non-playing squad members to give participants the low down on the competing team and build on the excitement of the game, as well as chat about other non-football topics.
BlogArtur Manasaryan, VBET UK Regional Director said “We are delighted to be backing the ‘VBET Match Party’ to support the great work being done by Pompey in the Community.”
“With fans unable to be at Fratton Park in person, we wanted to help connect supporters who may be isolated using the incredible power of Portsmouth FC. We are hugely grateful to the club for working so closely with us so we can assist in delivering impactful campaigns for the Pompey community. Play Up Pompey!”
Clare Martin continued “It’s great to be able to offer fans the opportunity to engage with others on a match day. It’s not only the football that makes a match day special, it’s meeting up with mates and that pre-match ritual. We’re hoping this opportunity will bring a little of that back into people’s lives!”
