The morning of Thursday 18th August meant Results Day for thousands of students up and down the country and for those at Pompey in the Community, it was no different.

For the past two years, students have been studying a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, which is equivalent to three A-Levels, and overall, our Year 2 students achieved a 100% pass rate studying at PitC.

Pompey in the Community’s BTEC Programme is a two-year course and is suitable for male and female students (over 16) who are keen to develop an insight into opportunities within the sports industry. This includes modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Wellbeing, and Investigating Business in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry.

This is what some of our students had to say on the day, ‘I’m super happy with the results I achieved after 2 years of hard work. Without Dave and the other tutors who all worked incredibly hard and put in so much time and effort to help our year, I wouldn’t have achieved anything near my final grade. I really enjoyed this course and believe it’s a great step to further education’.

Another student added, ‘I thoroughly enjoyed the course and look forward to taking part in the third year to gain Personal Training qualifications’.

Here’s what Dave Alvarez, Head of Education at Pompey in the Community, had to say about these fantastic results, ‘I am so proud of the efforts of both the students and tutors this year. It has been a tricky return post-Covid with both studying and these exams being the first ones the students have sat in 3 years. Everyone has worked hard to achieve these grades! We would like to wish all the students leaving us this year the very best of luck in all their future endeavors. We look forward to welcoming our returning students back in September’.

An exciting prospect for both Pompey in the Community’s existing and new students is the imminent move to the John Jenkins Stadium. From late 2022, students will be based at our brand-new sports provision with purpose-built classrooms and facilities, creating a perfect learning environment in which to thrive. Alongside their academic studies, students train and play on a weekly basis, representing Pompey against other professional clubs in competitive fixtures.
